Dr. Efosa Aigbedo

Medicine! Is it a way of life? A state of mind? Or just another degree program? Medicine defines itself in ways unique to the bearer of the question. To Dr. Aigbedo, medicine speaks on a daily basis and there are many untapped sides to it.

Dr. Aigbedo began his medical practice in Nigeria in 2010 by interning at the country’s busiest military hospital, 68 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, during which he simultaneously enrolled in numerous volunteer medical missions catering to both the young and the elderly such as the United Nations Medical Volunteers, Health and Missions International, Lagos State Free Health Mission and Rotary Club Medical Mission, to name a few. For the period of his National Youth Service Corps, he played a valuable role in the medical care of fellow Corps members and engaged in a UNICEF-sponsored school preventive medicine program educating students on HIV transmission and prevention.

In 2012, he was invited to serve by the Lagos State Governor in a scheme called the Lagos State Health Volunteer Scheme, a medical training programme where he recruited and trained 500 people on common medical conditions, how to record a patient’s medical history, conduct examinations and other duties incidental to being a physician or hospital assistant. This greatly impacted my teaching and leadership skills.

He was a pioneer host, and is now a guest consultant of the leading medical television show, We the Doctors; airing daily on cable and local television. This publicity led to the establishment of MEDMOBILE, a medical social body that engages in providing free health screening, community preventive health education and home health to both the young and the elderly.

Recently, in the 2015 presidential elections, he was the head of the medical team in charge of medical screening during the campaign in all local government areas.

Dr. Aigbedo currently works with a multinational general medical institute as a medical practitioner and in the process of opening his medical/wellness center.
